Comment #23, January 4, 2011:  My favorite author is Mark Helprin. Your writing is the first to share lyrical air with him...Bravo!!!
- Lori Ann Merritt
Comment #22, January 1, 2011:  Perhaps the best book I've ever read! I was so engrossed with the writing and felt like I was truly there with all of them. Thank you for a rare treat!
- Sarah Day
Comment #21, December 15, 2010:  I'm a little more than half way through this amazing book! I don't want it to end! I first heard about the novel on the Diane Rheem Show and I was intrigued. Two reasons I was interested in reading this book. 1. I was going to Switzerland. 2. I live in New Hampshire. The author is originally from N.H. Thank you Mr. Harvell for this amazing book!!
- Karen
Comment #20, December 12, 2010:  I cannot believe that this is anybody's first novel! Absolutely beautiful! Please, please write more and often.
- Margaret Pafford
Comment #19, December 10, 2010:  I just finished "The Bells," and while it tells a story about a little known part of history, I did not think it was very well written. The characters are flat, some portions of the plot too predictable, and some parts not very credible.
- Robert Harrison
Comment #18, December 2, 2010:  When your Aunt Martha suggested we read "The Bells" for our upcoming book club, I had no idea the treat I was in for. I have finished all but the last chapter. That happens to me when I read a book that takes me to a world that I'm not ready to leave. Not only have a I loved the book, but it has been quite an education. Thank you for shariing your wonderful talent with all of us.
- Sally VanMeter
Comment #17, November 30, 2010:  I passed on reading this book since it first appeared. I kept walking by it and one day I knocked over a book shelf and there it was again. It is undoubtedly the most beautiful book I have read to date. Reading is so important to my life and I feel quite qualified to tell you that "Moses touched my heart". Please keep writing. I am so impressed.
- Rebecca King
Comment #16, November 18, 2010:  I just finished The Bells and now on a mission to let all of my friends know they simply MUST read this book. I don't know the last time I enjoyed a story this much. Thank you Mr. Harvell for this gift you created.
- Lynn Cartwright
Comment #15, November 13, 2010:  What an amazing story! I could not put this down. I am so thankful to Readitforward.com for sending me this book. I have told everyone I know that this is a must read! Great job Richard Harvell! I look forward to reading more of your work!

Comment #14, November 12, 2010:  I was driving across Western Montana, lost in the visual beauty of the landscape, when an interview with Mr. Harvell on Diane Rehm aired. Suddenly I was pulled into a universe that was previously unknown to me, the world of the Castrati. Needless to say I was at the book store the next day searching in vain as it was not yet released. So I settled and ordered it and impatiently waited. When it arrived it did not disappoint and I found myself taking advantage of every spare moment to disappear it its pages. As has been written and acknowledged previously, this book is a cornucopia of literary pleasure. I found myself absorbing and engulfing it not only visually but also in a truly auditory sense as well. So thank you Mr. Harvell, you have opened my eyes and ears and now I am on a quest to experience as much of the music you reference throughout the book. Perhaps at some point you will release a music bibliography with artist and pieces performed by Moses throughout the book. Again thank you.
