Comment #33, May 5, 2011:  I adore this book. From the beginning it was a work that pulled you into it's belfry and kept you reading even after any explosion of sound just to enjoy the residual resonance emanating from within. Bravo! I'm hoping, Mr. Harvell, that you will be writing more and soon.

Comment #32, April 22, 2011:  On our vacation trip South we listened to our music lecture tapes "How to listen and understand great music". We had just finished the Baroque Music session when I began your book which was highly recommended by a friend. The chants, polyphony, opera all fit with what I had just heard! I loved the story, the characters, descriptions and setting. Best of all, we are going to Italy and Switzerland in May and I am looking forward to stopping in St. Gallen to see the church!! Sometimes all the notes just combine to create beautiful music. Congratulations and thank-you for this wonderful book.

Comment #31, March 15, 2011:  Hi, just got through reading the book and I loved it. Very well written and loved the atmosphere and setting. You really capture Moses' story perfectly. Good luck with your next writing project.

Comment #30, March 8, 2011:   I am a member of a small book club named the "Novel Nitpickers" from northern Ohio. Our dear friend Dottie Thomas choose this book for us to read and this Saturday we will discuss it in great length. I have heard from a few of our members that they loved the book as much as I did. For your first novel, Mr. Harvell you are a brilliant writer. I would love to see it become a movie.
- Denise Gross, Amherst, Ohio, USA
Comment #29, March 6, 2011:  Fabulous, beautifully written book. I loved it from the first page to the last. I actually found myself putting it down at night so as not to finish it, because I did not want it to end!

Comment #28, March 4, 2011:  I chose this book for our book club based on the interview I heard with Mr. Harvell on the Diane Riehm show. The book was phenomenal and nothing like we've read lately. I'm excited to lead the discussion next week and will let you know how it goes!

Comment #27, January 26, 2011:   I was in a small shop in North Hampton ,NH last summer. The owner had this book on display and told me he is a local artist and this is his first book. I was so intrigued that I picked it for my book club. I am about half way through it and absolutely loving it. I only wish their were a reading group question section at the end of the book . I haven't been able to find that anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find that?
- Terry
Comment #26, January 13, 2011:  Mr. Harvell you have written a wonderful novel! To paraphrase Dickens "Please Sir can we have some more?!" I agree John Goodman would make an excellent Nicholai,

Comment #25, January 9, 2011:  Thank you for this gorgeous book. I listened to the audio version, which did not diminish its power - in fact, given the subject matter, it was ideal. I read or listen to about 40 books a year, and this is by far the most romantic - in the best sense of the word - that I have encountered in years. I look forward to the next act in your literary career.
- Rachel
Comment #24, January 7, 2011:  I heard five minutes of your interview on NPR's Diane Rehm Show and immediately turned off the radio, went to the book store and purchased The Bells. I discarded the paper jacket and avoided any opinions or reviews until I finished reading it. I wanted nothing to spoil it. My only regret is how fast it went, where I often found myself laughing aloud, smiling, angered, almost in tears, and breathless by the end of it all. An epic novel that should be atop everyone's reading list. I eagerly await your next book!
